Wanted individuals extradited to Belgium and France for fraud of 700 mln euro

The legal proceedings related to the extradition of seven individuals arrested in the Republic of Cyprus, pursuant to European arrest warrants, for international fraud involving approximately 700 million euros, has recently been completed, according to the Law Office of the Republic of Cyprus.

In a press release, it says that the seven individuals were arrested on 27 October 2025, in Limassol, following a coordinated joint operation between Cyprus, France and Belgium.

The case concerns complaints made in France and Belgium that a group of organised persons, including the seven wanted individuals, were using applications to deceive various Internet users into making investments, convincing them to install specific software on their computers, that could control access. By creating fake accounts on behalf of the victims, they were making fake investments that yielded false returns.

During the hearing, their positions were rejected and they were extradited to Belgium and France.
