The Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA), with the guidance of the Education Ministry, has rescheduled the Under-18 Boys’ Elite Division Rugby Tournament due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions affecting several parts of the country.
The tournament, which was originally scheduled to be played on 8 and 9 August at the Trinity College Rugby Ground in Pallekele, will now be held on 7 and 8 August at the Royal College Sports Complex in Colombo.
The decision was taken after assessing the weather situation and prioritising the safety and welfare of the participating players, officials and schools.
The organisers were keen to ensure that the tournament is completed without disruption while maintaining the highest safety standards.
The competition carries added significance as it will serve as the final selection tournament to identify the Sri Lanka Under-18 National Sevens Rugby squad for the forthcoming Asian Under-18 Sevens Rugby Championship. (SJ)
