Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya yesterday tabled in Parliament the gazette giving effect to an increase in the levy on casino operators from 10% to 18%, effective from 1 October 2025.
The same gazette also doubles the entry fee charged from Sri Lankan citizens to $ 100 from the current $ 50, while the fee for foreign visitors remains unchanged at $ 100.
The move formalises a 2025 Budget proposal aimed at enhancing State
revenue through higher taxation on gaming operations.
