Police in Kyankwanzi District are holding a 45-year-old man for allegedly stabbing his neighbour to death after finding him engaged in an intimate encounter with his wife.
The suspect, identified as Bosco Nsengiyunva, was apprehended on October 30 following the murder of John Paul, also known as Samporo, at Ranch No. 1 Village in Kyankwanzi Sub-county. Both men, of Rwandan origin, were casual labourers residing in adjacent makeshift houses in the area, although they were employed by different individuals.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the violent confrontation occurred at around 3am on October 30 when Bosco allegedly caught the deceased with his wife, Mukasine Venerandi. Overcome by anger, the suspect reportedly grabbed a knife and inflicted several fatal stab wounds to Paul’s neck.
Confirming the incident, Wamala Region Police spokesperson Lameck Kigozi stated that the matter was formally reported to Kyankwanzi Central Police Station by Taremwa Emmanuel Bakora, the local council chairman of Ranch No. 1 Village. A homicide team was dispatched to examine and document the crime scene.
During the search, detectives recovered a blood-stained knife suspected to be the murder weapon. The victim’s naked body was discovered lying in a pool of blood in nearby bushland, approximately 50 metres from his makeshift residence. Witness statements were recorded before the body was conveyed to Ntwetwe Health Centre IV for a post-mortem examination.
Mr Kigozi noted that the suspect admitted to committing the act during interrogation, citing severe provocation after catching the deceased with his wife. The police spokesperson advised members of the public against engaging in extramarital affairs, warning that such actions often precipitate deadly domestic violence.
