SC Villa recorded their biggest win of the season, thumping Mbarara City 6-1 at the Kadiba Stadium to move back to within four points of Startimes Uganda Premier League leaders Vipers.
Forward Hassan Mubiru helped him to a brace with Frank Ssebuufu, Tony Ankunda, Aslam Ssemakula, Najib Yiga also on the scoresheet.
The result piled more misery on a struggling Mbarara side that could only raise 11 players in their previous game against Lugazi after announcing the suspension of four senior players amid welfare issues.
They raised 18 players for this encounter but never appeared like getting a positive result after going behind on six minutes.
Ssebuufu opened the floodgates with another header straight from the training ground off a Hassan Mubiru corner.
Ssebuufu then returned the favour selflessly setting up Mubiru for the second on 11 minutes after youngster Bernard Ndiguna lost possession.
Ankunda then scored the third goal from a rebound on the half hour mark.
Ssemakula then tapped in the fourth goal after a fine break instigated by Patrick Kakande and set up by Mubiru on 35 minutes.
Yiga then tapped in the fifth after being set up by Ssemakula before completed the rout.
Substitute Clinton Kamugisha who kept goal in the game against Lugazi scored Mbarara’s consolation from a penalty as they suffered a seventh defeat in 14 games to remain second from bottom with 11 points.
Earlier, Patrick Kaddu’s seventh goal of the season helped Kitara to a 1-0 win over Express as they maintained sixth place with 26 points from 13 games while Express are 10th on 15 points.
