The meeting, which was attended by key stakeholders, coordinators and grassroots mobilisers of the group, provided an opportunity for interaction and discussions on strengthening the progressive movement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Director-General of the Asiwaju Mandate Group, Asiwaju Olumuyiwa Asagunla, while receiving the candidate and her entourage, described Princess Olatunji-Ohwovoriole as a committed progressive with the experience, capacity and passion required to provide quality representation for the people of Akure North and Akure South Federal Constituency. He assured her of the group’s continued support and commitment to the ideals of the APC and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In her remarks, Princess Olatunji-Ohwovoriole appreciated the leadership and members of AMG for their unwavering commitment to the progressive family.
She noted that the strength of the party lies in its grassroots structures and dedicated members, stressing that meaningful representation can only be achieved through continuous engagement with the people.
The APC flag bearer also highlighted her vision for inclusive representation, youth and women empowerment, community development and effective legislative engagement, assuring members that she would remain accessible and responsive to the needs and aspirations of the constituency.
The APC flag bearer sought the support of the group in her quest to represent Akure South /Akure North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
She commended AMG for its remarkable grassroots mobilisation and developmental interventions across the 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo State, particularly in Akure South and Akure North, expressing confidence that the goodwill generated by the group’s people-oriented initiatives would translate into overwhelming support for the APC during the forthcoming general elections where President Bola Ahmed Tinunbu is expected to win with a wide margin in Ondo state.
Princess Olatunji-Ohwovoriole paid tribute to the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, describing him as the pride of Ondo State whose visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to human capital development have continued to impact lives across the state.
Recounting her political journey, she disclosed that the Minister provided her with financial and moral support during the Akure South /Akure North Federal Constituency bye-election following the demise of the late Hon. Isaac Adedayo Omolafe.
According to her, his support reflected his commitment to building people rather than pursuing personal political interests. She noted that her admiration for the Minister stems from gratitude and conviction, urging party faithful to identify with him because of his leadership qualities and long-term investment in the growth of the APC and the development of Ondo State.
The APC candidate emphasised the need for unity among all APC support groups, stressing that despite their different platforms, they should remain members of one political family. She reaffirmed the party’s commitment to delivering one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election and urged members to work collectively to achieve the target.
Responding, the Director-General of the Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG), Asiwaju Olumuyiwa Asagunla, said the group was established in March 2024 with the sole objective of mobilising support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
He explained that AMG was initiated and sponsored by the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in line with his vision of mobilising strong members of opposition paties into APC strengthening the existing structures through grassroots mobilisation and impactful community development.
Asagunla assured the APC candidate of the group’s full support. Expressing confidence in her emergence at the polls. He noted that beyond political mobilisation, AMG has continued to address the needs of people at the grassroots through various interventions.
