The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a man identified as Agbeniga Taye in Oke-Ero Local Government Area.
The Command said the deceased was among three people who went into the bush in search of some missing persons believed to have been victims of suspected kidnapping.
The clarification followed reports that Taye was a local security commander who was killed while attempting to confront suspected bandits and protect residents of Idofin-Ayekale community.
But the Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, told Daily Trust on Saturday that the command could not establish that Taye was a local security commander.
