A medical doctor attending to Kano pilgrims during the 2026 Hajj exercise, Dr Ashir Muhamed Sumaila, says body pains, catarrh, headaches and joint pains are among the most common health cases recorded among pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.
Dr Sumaila disclosed this while speaking with journalists in Makkah.
He said the clinic had also received pilgrims suffering from hypertension and diabetes, particularly those who travelled for Hajj without their prescribed medications.
‘The commonest cases we receive here are body pains, catarrh, headaches and joint pains. We also attend to pilgrims who are hypertensive or diabetic and come to Hajj without their drugs,’ he said.
According to him, affected pilgrims are treated at the clinic, while serious cases are referred to appropriate Saudi hospitals and health facilities for further medical attention.
‘If there is any patient who needs referral, we refer the person to the appropriate clinic or hospital in Saudi Arabia,’ he added.
The doctor said the medical team made adequate preparations before departing Nigeria by identifying common ailments associated with Hajj and procuring relevant medications.
