Man remanded for allegedly stealing shoes at Kano court mosque

A Kano Magistrate’s Court No. 53 sitting at Norman’s Land has remanded Muhammad Najib Rimin Kebe in a custodial facility over alleged repeated theft of shoes at the mosque within the premises of the Norman’s Land Courts in Kano.

The police arraigned the defendant before the Magistrate’s Court, presided over by Magistrate Dayyabu Jamilu Hamza, on charges bordering on trespass and stealing shoes at the mosque.

After the charges were read, the court ordered that the defendant be remanded in a custodial facility and adjourned further hearing in the case until August 28, 2026.

Earlier, the defendant was accused of repeatedly visiting the mosque within the court premises and stealing shoes belonging to worshippers.

Some complainants, including court workers, police officers, correctional service personnel and other members of the public, reportedly said they had been experiencing repeated cases of shoe theft at the mosque.
