Police recover rifles, ammunition after raid on suspected bandits’ hideout

Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have recovered two FN FAL rifles and live ammunition during a raid on a suspected bandits’ hideout in Dajin Madam Forest, which borders Plateau and Bauchi states.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi, disclosed this while briefing journalists at the command headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.

He said the recovery followed investigations into the arrest of four suspects accused of supplying arms, ammunition and illicit substances to bandits. The suspects were paraded at the command headquarters on July 11, 2026.

Sanusi said a follow-up operation conducted on August 2, based on intelligence provided by one of the suspects, Musbahu Ishaq, led operatives to the forest where the weapons and ammunition were recovered.

According to him, investigations revealed that the criminal syndicate maintained one of its hideouts in the forest.
