Bangladesh Needs Long-Term Energy Strategy for a Low-Carbon: State Minister

Bangladesh needs an evidence-based, realistic and long-term energy strategy to ensure lowcarbon and climate-resilient development, State Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Sheikh Faridul Islam said recently.

He made the remarks as the chief guest at a dialogue titled ‘University Dialogue on People-Led LT-LEDS: Bangladesh’s LowCarbon Future’ at the RISE Auditorium of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

The dialogue, organised by Youth for NDCs under the theme ‘Energy System and Power Planning for Bangladesh’s LT-LEDS,’ was supported by BUET’s Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development (IESD) and the German Embassy in Dhaka.

The state minister said Bangladesh’s Long-Term Low-Emission Development Strategy (LT-LEDS) should not be treated merely as another climate document.
