Solar Power Cuts Electricity Costs at Padma Bridge Service Area

A solar power system installed at Service Area-2 of the Padma Bridge has signi?cantly reduced electricity costs while supporting the government’s renewable energy transition efforts. According to a recent press release issued by the Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA), the 2.49-megawatt peak (MWp) solar plant is operating under a net metering system connected to the national grid. Electricity generated during the day is used to meet the service area’s demand, while surplus power is supplied to the grid. Secretary of the Bridges Division and Executive Director of the BBA Mohammad Abdur Rouf said the successful use of renewable energy at a major national infrastructure project like the Padma Bridge is an important step toward sustainable development.
