Former England striker, Andy Carroll, has revealed that he was sexually assaulted by a man in 2021 during his second spell with Newcastle.
The 37-year-old has made the details public in his autobiography, Owning It, after initially deciding not to include the incident in the book.
Carroll said he eventually discussed the matter with his girlfriend, Lou Teasdale, before deciding to tell his story.
The incident took place at Carroll’s home while he was playing for his hometown club. The perpetrator was later convicted of sexual offences and sentenced to three years in prison.
