Benue security operatives arrest two suspected kidnappers

Operatives of the Benue State security network, known as the Civil Protection Guards, have arrested two suspected kidnappers in Ado Local Government Area of the state.

The Security Adviser to the state governor on Security and Internal Affairs, Joseph Har, disclosed this to newsmen in Makurdi on Monday.

Har said the suspects abducted a woman, alongside four others, on August 14, 2026, while they were returning from Idelle Market in Oju Local Government Area of the state.

The security adviser added that one of the kidnap victims, identified as Mrs Ekuma, managed to escape from the kidnappers’ hideout in a forest around Utonkon District in Ado Local Government Area.

He stated that following her escape, personnel of the state security network at the Ado Command mounted an operation to locate the kidnappers.

According to Har, ‘During the operation, two suspected members of the kidnapping gang were arrested after they pursued Ekuma when they discovered that she had escaped from their hideout.’

He said the arrested suspects, identified as Usman Shuaibu and Aliyu Drahu, were initially transferred to the Zonal Headquarters in Otukpo before they were later handed over to the Police Division in Otukpo for further investigation and necessary action.
