The Bethiez Relief and Empowerment Foundation lit up the Modupe Cole Memorial Treatment and Care Home in Lagos State on Saturday, June 27, 2026, with a heartfelt outreach themed ‘Love, Care and Inclusion,’ reaching 476 children and 135 caregivers with essential supplies, gifts, and a powerful message of dignity and belonging.
The event, organised by the Foundation under the leadership of its founder, Ademola Elizabeth Adedayo, brought together volunteers, partners, and well-wishers for a day dedicated to celebrating children living with disabilities and honouring the caregivers who support them daily.
The 476 children at the Care Home went home with notebooks, pencils, crayons, sharpeners, socks, diapers, cartons of sanitary pads, water bottles, and an assortment of clothing materials; practical essentials aimed at easing daily life and supporting their education and wellbeing.
In a gesture that organisers say was long overdue, the Foundation also turned its attention to the 135 caregivers on ground, presenting them with food items, wrappers, shoes, bags, and other essential supplies in appreciation of what the Foundation describes as ‘the incredible care and dedication they provide every day.’
‘For many years, when we talk about disability support, our attention naturally goes to the individuals living with disabilities, and rightly so. But today, we are shining a light on another group of incredible people who are often behind the scenes: the caregivers,’ said Elizabeth, addressing the gathering. ‘The people who wake up every day to provide support, patience, comfort, and strength, sometimes quietly, without recognition. Today, we say: we see you, we appreciate you, and you matter.’
In her keynote address, Elizabeth described the outreach as more than a one-off event, framing it as part of a broader mission to build a community where compassion is demonstrated, not just spoken about.
‘Disability does not define a person’s worth, and caregiving should never go unnoticed,’ she told attendees, thanking partners, volunteers, and supporters whose contributions made the day possible. She expressed hope that the event would spark wider conversations and stronger support systems for differently-abled individuals and the caregivers who stand beside them.
The Bethiez Relief and Empowerment Foundation has, over the years, carried out a series of outreaches dedicated to extending hope, dignity, and support to underserved and often-overlooked communities, with a particular focus on children living with disabilities and the caregivers who support them.
Past interventions include a charity outreach at Agboye Village, Oyo State, which reached over 300 beneficiaries, and a ‘Pad-A-Girl’ initiative at Sabo, Ibadan, Oyo State, which supported over 120 girls. The June 27 event at Modupe Cole Memorial Treatment and Care Home is the latest in this continuing body of work. The Foundation continues to seek partnerships with individuals, corporate sponsors, and grant-making bodies who share its vision of a more inclusive society.
The June 27 outreach adds to the Foundation’s growing track record of community interventions, and organisers say it will not be the last. The Foundation is actively welcoming collaborations, sponsorships, and support to scale its impact to more care homes and communities across Lagos State and beyond.
