Nigerian singer and entrepreneur, D’banj, joined dignitaries at the London Stock Exchange to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the Royal African Society by ringing the closing bell.
The entertainer disclosed this in an Instagram post on Friday, where he shared a series of photos from the event and described the occasion as a historic moment.
‘On Wednesday, 22nd of July, history was made. I was invited to the London Stock Exchange to ring the closing bell as we celebrate the 125 years of The Royal African Society,’ he wrote.
D’banj said it was an honour to be part of the celebration, noting that he shared the occasion with several prominent African leaders and business executives.
Among those in attendance were Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Terrance Michael Drew; President of Afreximbank, Prof. Benedict Oramah; Chairperson of the Royal African Society, Arunma Oteh; Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group, Dr. Umaru Kwairanga; Chief Executive Officer of the Royal African Society, Stella Okuzu; Chief Executive Officer of Funab Group, Dr. Muhammad Ajia; and Group Chief Executive Officer of Oando Plc, Wale Tinubu.
Expressing appreciation, D’banj thanked everyone present, writing, ‘I must greet you all specially and powerfully.’
The closing bell ceremony formed part of activities marking the Royal African Society’s 125th anniversary, celebrating its longstanding commitment to strengthening Africa’s engagement with the global community through business, culture and public policy.
