The accomplishments of a Delta-based clergy and rights activist, Pastor Edewor Egedegbe, have been described as evidence of God’s grace.
The state governor, Sheriff Oborewvori while celebrating the cleric at his 60th birthday and book launch at the Africa for Peace Centre, Ugolo, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State recalled how Egedegbe’s parents lost seven sons prior to his birth.
Attributing the activist to a ‘carrier of grace’ whose life bears testimony to God’s faithfulness, Oborevwori commended the celebrant’s commitment to the Christian faith as a special privilege and a responsibility to guide people in the ways of God.
Oborevwori, represented by Executive Director, Projects at the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Olorogun Ebenezer Okorodudu, prayed for continued success and for God’s grace to remain with him as he advances in age and service.
He also urged parents to pay close attention to their children’s upbringing and protect them from negative influences.
He warned that bad company and drug abuse could lead young people into criminality and jeopardise their future, stressing the importance of guiding children towards responsible relationships and conduct.
Reviewing the book, ‘Value Rebirth: Pathway to an Egalitarian Society’, the chairman of the occasion, Dr Joseph Ambakaderemo, described it as a call for national awakening and transformation.
Ambakaderemo said the author challenged Nigerians to look beyond the country’s natural resources and examine how they are managed and distributed.
He emphasised that sustainable development required ethical leadership, responsible citizenship and strong institutions.
Earlier, the Resident Pastor of Winners Chapel, Uti, Pastor Ime Archibong, preached on thanksgiving, as he urged the congregation to reflect on the past, appreciate the present and approach the future with faith.
