How to apply for Nigerian Navy 2026 recruitment

The Navy announced the exercise in a post on its X handle on Monday, directing interested applicants to use its official recruitment portal once the application window opens.

The Nigerian Navy recruitment is open to eligible Nigerian citizens by birth who have a National Identification Number (NIN) and meet the stipulated educational, age, physical and medical requirements.

The Navy said the application is free and warned prospective applicants against paying anyone who claims to be able to facilitate their recruitment.

‘Online registration and other recruitment processes are free of charge and no payment should be made at any point to anyone throughout the Exercise,’ it said.

Requirements for applicants

Applicants must meet the specified physical and medical requirements and be medically, psychologically and physically fit. They must also have no previous criminal conviction and be able to communicate in basic English.

The Navy said applicants must be at least 1.69 metres tall for males and 1.65 metres for females.

For candidates applying with O’Level qualifications, the age requirement is between 18 and 22 years as of December 31, 2026.

Such applicants must also have at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, obtained in not more than two sittings.

The recruitment guideline also contains separate age and qualification requirements for applicants with OND and NCE certificates, tradesmen, candidates in medical-related professions and sportsmen and women.

Documents and application process

Applicants who complete the online application are required to print their acknowledgement form, parent or guardian consent form, Local Government attestation form and guarantor’s certification form.

The Navy said details of the recruitment examination, including the date and venues, would be communicated to applicants in due course.

It advised prospective applicants to obtain further information through its recruitment portal when the application opens on October 2.

The Navy also cautioned applicants against submitting more than one application.

‘Only a single valid application is permitted, multiple online applications shall be disqualified,’ the guideline stated.

It further warned that applicants who cannot communicate in basic English may be disqualified at any stage of the recruitment process.
