The ancient town of Ikoyi-Ekiti in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State is set to host its ‘Ajodun ?m? Ilu’ celebration on Saturday, October 25.
The event, which will take place at the Oníkòyí’s palace from 10:00 a.m., is organised by the ‘Egbe Omo Ilu Ikoyi’ under the leadership of Chief Olu Kolawole.
In a statement jointly signed by the event committee chairman and secretary, Chief Olaleye Adéyemí and Mr Folorunso Akindele respectively, this year’s celebration will be a vibrant showcase of culture, featuring traditional music, dance and colourful displays that reflect the deep-rooted heritage of the people.
The statement further said that the annual event goes beyond celebration, serving as a rallying point for unity, heritage and development of the community.
‘This is more than a celebration, it is a homecoming and a time when indigenes of Ikoyi community return to honour their past, celebrate their present and reaffirm their commitment to building a brighter future,’ the statement read.
Chief Kolawole also underscored the significance of the event, urging all indigenes both home and in the diaspora to embrace the opportunity for collective renewal.
‘Let us come together in unity to honour our traditions, strengthen our bonds, and chart a purposeful course for our beloved Ikoyi kingdom through our generous donations and contributions from different groups of our community,’ Kolawole said.
The ‘Egbe Omo Ilu Ikoyi’ has extended invitations to neighbouring communities, friends, families and well-wishers, assuring that this year’s celebration will be a memorable and colourful occasion.
