The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed several establishments in the Ifako-Ijaiye and Igando areas for repeated cases of noise and air pollution.
In a post on its verified X account on Tuesday, the agency said the action followed an enforcement operation carried out on Monday.
According to LASEPA, the exercise was part of its intensified efforts to curb environmental violations across the state. Establishments sealed include those located along College Road, Ifako-Ijaiye, and Lasu-Isheri Road, Igando.
During the operation on Monday, the agency sealed the Cherubim and Seraphim (King of Kings) Church for noise pollution, a fufu-making shop for heat radiation and air pollution, and Tynonex Nigeria Limited for environmental nuisance.
LASEPA’s General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, said the enforcement was aimed at safeguarding public health and restoring environmental order.
Ajayi particularly criticised the Cherubim and Seraphim (King of Kings) Church for operating illegally within Georgius Cole Estate, Ifako-Ijaiye, despite several complaints from residents about persistent noise pollution.
He stressed that while freedom of worship is guaranteed, it must not infringe on the rights or well-being of others.
‘No individual or group is allowed to impact negatively on the health and peace of others in the name of religious activities,’ he said.
Ajayi urged residents and business owners to adhere to environmental regulations, reaffirming the agency’s zero-tolerance policy for noise and other forms of pollution across Lagos State.
