Osborn Umahi asks Ohaozara’s 11 wards to submit five priority projects each

Chairman of Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi, Osborn Nweze Umahi, has directed the 11 wards in the council area to submit five priority projects each for consideration in his administration’s action plan.

Umahi made the announcement during an expanded stakeholders’ meeting held at Osborn Hotel, according to People of Ebonyi.

He said the initiative was part of a new approach to leadership aimed at allowing communities to identify projects they consider most important to their development.

‘People are very happy and I have introduced a new style of leadership,’ Umahi said.

Under the arrangement, each ward is expected to identify five projects through its councillor, potentially producing 55 proposals across the local government area.

However, the council has yet to disclose the criteria that will be used to select the projects, the funding arrangements or when work on approved projects will commence.

The initiative is expected to give residents greater input into project selection by allowing communities to present their most pressing needs directly through their ward representatives.

The implementation of the plan will determine how effectively the identified priorities are translated into projects across the 11 wards.
