Osun guber: APC National Secretary disburses N66.4m to party members for campaign

National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ajibola Basiru, has distributed N66.4 million to party members in Osun as part of an empowerment programme aimed at strengthening grassroots support ahead of the August 15, 2026, governorship election.

Speaking during the programme, the APC National Secretary described the initiative as a humanitarian intervention designed to improve the welfare of party members and boost their commitment to the party.

He said the empowerment would help stabilise members economically and encourage them to work towards the party’s success in the forthcoming governorship election.

According to him, the empowerment is one of several initiatives planned for party members before the election, expressing confidence that the APC would emerge victorious at the polls.

Also speaking, the coordinator of the Alubarika Movement described the group as the mobilisation arm of the APC campaign organisation, established to galvanise support for the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Bola Munirudeen Oyebamiji.

He said members of the movement were working across the state to ensure the victory of the APC in the August 15 election, adding that the empowerment programme was intended to motivate party faithful and strengthen their dedication to the campaign.

The coordinator disclosed that 322 beneficiaries were selected from each ward across the state, with N200,000 given to each beneficiary, amounting to N66.4 million distributed during the exercise.

He added that additional empowerment programmes would be organised in the coming months to support party members engaged in various trades and vocations.

He advised beneficiaries to invest the funds in their businesses and livelihoods rather than using them for political mobilisation.

‘We already have resources for mobilisation. The money should be used to support their businesses and improve their standard of living,’ he said.

The APC chieftain also appealed to political parties to conduct their campaigns peacefully, stressing that elections should be determined by the will of the electorate and not by violence.

He maintained that the APC remained committed to peaceful campaigns and urged security agencies to discharge their responsibilities professionally to safeguard lives and property before, during, and after the governorship election.
