Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has won Ife Central Local Government Area in Saturday’s Osun State governorship election, defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) by over 5,000 votes.
The result, announced at the Ife Central Local Government Area collation centre at about 10:43 pm on Saturday, showed that the Accord Party polled 21,171 votes, while the APC secured 15,913 votes.
The result is subject to review at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) central collation centre in Osogbo before final ratification.
A total of 39,330 votes were cast from the 39,990 accredited voters in the local government area. Of the votes cast, 38,380 were declared valid, while 950 were rejected.
Other parties recorded the following results: AA, 137 votes; AAC, 90; ADC, 747; ADP, 86; APGA, 71; APM, three; BP, eight; NNPP, five; PRP, three; SDP, 12; YPP, 25; ZLP, 102, while APP recorded no vote.
The local government has 122,454 registered voters, with 39,990 accredited for the election.
The result gives the Accord Party candidate and incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, a significant advantage in the local government over his APC challenger, Bola Oyebamiji.
Results from the state’s 30 local government areas are being announced at their respective collation centres as the process continues.
