The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved the release of P3.39 billion for the 2023 performance bonuses of qualified personnel from the Philippine National Police.
In a statement on Thursday, the DBM said the fund will cover bonuses for 225,545 police officers nationwide.
‘Our police officers are among the pillars of our nation. They stand at the frontlines of peace and order every single day. We see their hard work and dedication, so we are making sure they receive what is rightfully due to them,’ Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said.
The PNP’s 2023 performance-based bonus is equivalent to 45.5% of each officer’s monthly basic salary as of Dec. 31, 2023.
To qualify, first-, second-, and third-level personnel must have received a ‘very satisfactory’ rating in their annual performance evaluations.
The DBM said the bonus is charged against the Miscellaneous Personnel Benefits Fund under the 2025 General Appropriations Act.
Benefits for police families. The department said the incentive will help ease financial burdens of the police officers’ families.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines has also recently received its 2023 performance bonus.
Timing. The DBM explained that the release of the 2023 bonus in 2025 does not constitute a delay, as the evaluation process typically takes a year to complete, including an appeal stage.
The timing, it said, ensures accuracy in assessing the performance of thousands of government employees.
