2nd Ronald and Rowrence Lim Sy Memorial Golf Tournament tees off on May 29 at Forest Hills

What began as a tribute is now becoming a tradition on the fairways.

On May 29, the 2nd Ronald and Rowrence Lim Sy Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at Forest Hills Golf and Country Club, bringing together family, friends, colleagues and members of the golfing community for a day shaped by competition, remembrance and shared purpose.

Held in loving memory of brothers Ronald and Rowrence Lim Sy, who unexpectedly passed away in 2024, the tournament was first mounted last year as a way to honor two lives that left a lasting mark on the people around them.

The strong and heartfelt response to the inaugural event, held on May 17, 2025 at Swing Golf and Lounge in Quezon City, inspired the organizers to continue what has now become a meaningful annual gathering.

More than just a return to the course, this year’s edition carries forward the spirit that defined the first tournament: people coming together not only to play, but to remember.

Ronald and Rowrence were known for the kind of qualities that naturally drew people in-friendship, sportsmanship, generosity and leadership-and the tournament has become one way those qualities continue to be felt by the many lives they touched.

That growing significance is reflected in this year’s turnout. The 2026 tournament is expected to draw three times more participants than the inaugural staging, a sign of how strongly the event has resonated in just a short time.

What started as a personal memorial has steadily grown into a wider community event, one that brings together different circles connected by affection, respect and lasting memories of the two brothers.

While golf remains at the center of the event, the tournament also aims to go beyond competition. It creates a space for participants and guests to reconnect, strengthen friendships, and share in a day that is both uplifting and grounded in purpose.

In many ways, it reflects the kind of legacy Ronald and Rowrence left behind-not only in memory, but in the relationships they built and the sense of community they inspired.

This year, that purpose extends even further through its beneficiary, SOS Children’s Village Lipa. The organization will take part in the event and showcase handcrafted products made by the children under its care, giving guests and participants the chance to support a cause rooted in care, compassion and community. Their presence adds another layer of meaning to the day, allowing the tournament to honor memory not only through gathering, but through giving back.

The organizers hope that everyone who joins the 2nd Ronald and Rowrence Lim Sy Memorial Golf Tournament leaves with more than memories of a day on the course. More than scores, prizes, or the program itself, the event stands as a celebration of legacy, kindness, and the enduring connections that continue to bring people together.

Tournament fee is set at P5,000 for non-members and P4,000 for members, inclusive of green fee, cart sharing, lunch and raffle. A non-playing guest rate of P3,000 is also available, inclusive of lunch and raffle.
