Attention Gleeks! A series order has been given to reboot Ryan Murphy’s hit jukebox musical series “Glee,” with some familiar faces returning.
The show originally ran for six seasons form 2009 to 2015 and centered on a fictional high school glee club as its members navigate social issues and teenage life, each episode featuring musical performances.
Among the sprawling cast of the series were Matthew Morrison, Lea Michele, Jane Lynch, Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Dianna Agron, Amber Riley, Jenna Ushkowitz, Filipino-American Darren Criss, and the late actors Cory Monteith, Naya Rivera and Mark Salling. “Glee” won six Emmys across 32 nominations during its initial run including Outstanding Supporting Actress – Comedy for Lynch, Outstanding Directing – Comedy for Murphy, and guest acting plums for Neil Patrick Harris and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Murphy revealed earlier this year he had finished a reboot script for the show and Disney – which now owns the series rights – is ordering its development for streaming platforms Disney+ and Hulu.
Multiple sources told entertainment outlet Variety that Michele would be returning to reprise her Emmy-nominated role as Rachel Berry.
