Dried marijuana leaves valued at P20 million have been found floating in the West Philippine Sea in Palawan, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported yesterday.
The contraband was found on Oct. 1 by a group of local fishermen, according to Christopher Torres, chief of the PDEA-Palawan.
Torres said the marijuana was placed in a blue bag, which the fishermen found floating near the coast of Barangay Bagong Sikat in Puerto Princesa City.
He said the marijuana leaves, weighing around 20 kilos, were stashed in 34 plastic packs.
The fishermen turned over their find to the Philippine Navy Western Command as soon as they returned to shore on Wednesday.
The PDEA has yet to determine the origin of the contraband.
Meanwhile, in Quezon province, shabu with an estimated street value of P442,000 was seized in Lucena City yesterday.
The illegal substance was recovered from a drug suspect identified only as Jaypee, who was arrested in a sting in Barangay Isabang, according to the Calabarzon police.
