Farm Fresh drew another supernova effort from Helene Rousseaux as it dumped Capital1, 25-22, 22-25, 25-21, 25-22, to extend its historic run in the PVL Reinforced Conference on Tuesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The prolific Belgian spiker uncorked a masterful 36-point effort, including 33 on spikes, to power the Foxies to their best start in franchise history with this third straight victory.
‘I’m super happy, I didn’t know that this is like history for Farm Fresh to be 3-0 and I’m grateful to be part of it,’ said Rosseaux.
Rosseaux’s recent feat came two hits shy from duplicating her mammoth 38-point performance in their first win over Nxled in Dasmariñas last October 9.
In all, the Belgian has compiled a whopping average of 30.3 points in three outings that put her in early contention for the Best Foreign Player award.
For Farm Fresh coach Alessandro Lodi, he compared all their wins to birth pains.
‘I don’t want to sound blasphemous, but sometimes these team gains were like giving birth,’ said Lodi. ‘I feel like we’re a team that never gives up but we kind of like to make it harder.’
‘But we need to grow if we want to be contenders,’ he added.
Lodi’s wariness was caused by Farm Fresh’s loss of concentration in the second inning that allowed Capital1 to snatch a set.
Good thing Rosseux came through.
‘Overall, we take the win. It’s not easy to win in this league, we’re 3-0 so it’s a good day,’ he said.
The Solar Spikers dropped to 1-2.
