A total of 29 areas are expected to reach ‘danger’ level heat indices on Tuesday, May 12, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Heat index, which refers to the heat the body feels when air temperature and humidity are combined, is automatically categorized as ‘danger’ level once it ranges between 42°C and 51°C.
Indices under this level carry increased risks of heat cramps and heat exhaustion increases which could then lead to heat stroke, according to Pagasa.
Based on Pagasa’s forecast as of 5 p.m. of Monday, May 11, the following areas are expected hit danger level indices Monday:
Naia Pasay City, Metro Manila – 42ºC
Laoag City, Ilocos Norte – 42ºC
Dagupan City, Pangasinan – 43ºC
Bacnotan, La Union – 43ºC
Aparri, Cagayan – 42ºC
Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – 45ºC
ISU Echague, Isabela – 44ºC
Baler (Radar), Aurora – 43º
Casiguran, Aurora – 44ºC
Iba, Zambales – 43ºC
CLSU Muñoz, Nueva Ecija – 42ºC
Cubi Pt., Subic Bay, Olongapo City – 42ºC
