Aftershocks are expected following the magnitude 5.5 earthquake that jolted parts of Negros Occidental and nearby provinces early Monday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the earthquake struck at 3:06 a.m. 16 kilometers southeast of Candoni, Negros Occidental.
It is a tectonic earthquake, with an 89-kilometer depth of focus, Phivolcs added.
Phivolcs said the earthquake was also felt at Intensity IV in the following areas:
