Alex Eala will face a qualifier in the first round of the US Open women’s singles tournament.
Eala was seeded No. 17 at Flushing Meadows in New York after the men’s and women’s singles brackets were released early Friday.
Qualifiers are ongoing, and main-draw action begins August 30.
Eala, currently at a career-best No. 18 in the WTA rankings, is making her second women’s main-draw appearance at the US Open, where she is also a former girls’ Grand Slam champion.
Should Eala advance to the second round anew, she will face the winner between Oleksandra Oliynykova and Reese Brantmeier, a wild card.
Also in her section of the draw are No. 14 seed Iva Jovic, who takes on Magdalena Frech, and Magda Linette, who also faces a qualifier in the first round.
Last year, the Filipino tennis ace reached the Round of 64 after beating Clara Tauson in a breakthrough Grand Slam win.
Since then, Eala has made historic strides in her first full season on the WTA Tour, including a Round of 16 stint at Wimbledon.
She also won her first WTA Tour-level title at the Mubadala DC Open, which kicked off her North American hard-court swing
