Alex Eala’s opening match at the Asian Games 2026 women’s singles tennis tournament has been delayed and moved indoors due to weather disruptions in Aichi-Nagoya.
Eala is now scheduled to begin her campaign no earlier than 4:15 p.m. at Indoor Court C of the Higashiyama Park Tennis Center.
The mixed doubles first-round match preceding hers was still ongoing as of posting.
Eala was initially scheduled to play on center court no earlier than 11 a.m. Monday, but rain delayed the singles matches and prompted organizers to move her match to the Show Court for 2 p.m.
The court remained slippery, however, forcing another change and moving Eala’s match against Thailand’s Patcharin Cheapchandej indoors.
The WTA world No. 18 received a first-round bye as the top seed in the women’s singles tournament.
Meanwhile, Tenny Madis and Stefi Aludo advanced in women’s doubles after beating Indonesia’s Meydiana Reinnamah and Anjali Junarto, 6-3, 7-6 (4), earlier Monday.
