A 55-year-old truck driver died while two others were injured after his vehicle crashed into a roadside tree in Mulanay town, Quezon province, on Wednesday evening, police said.
The truck was descending the road in Barangay Butanyog at around 7:30 p.m. when its brakes reportedly failed, Quezon police reported.
Police said the driver deliberately steered the truck into a tree to stop the vehicle.
The driver was dead at the scene.
The two truck helpers, who were also injured in the crash, were taken to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.
