A Magnitude 4.4 earthquake was recorded northeast of San Policarpo town in Eastern Samar on Friday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said in its bulletin.
Reports from Phivolcs showed that the underwater movement was tectonic in nature, at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers below the ground. The earthquake’s epicenter was located 56 kilometers northeast of San Policarpo.
Instrumental Intensities were recorded:
Intensity III – Palapag, Northern Samar
Intensity II – Mapanas, Northern Samar
Intensity I – Can-avid, Eastern Samar
No aftershocks and no damage are expected after the earthquake.
