’Habagat’, easterlies prevailing in parts of PH – Pagasa

Rain showers and cloudy skies due to the southwest monsoon or ‘habagat’ and the easterlies are prevailing in several parts of the country on Thursday, according to the state weather bureau.

In the 5 p.m. weather forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration, weather specialist John Manalo said that southwest monsoon is prevailing in Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Antique, Panay Island, Zamboanga Peninsula, Tawi-Tawi, and Basilan.

Meanwhile, easterlies or the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean were affecting Quezon province, Bicol region, Eastern Visayas, and Caraga region in Mindanao.

He said cloudy skies and humid conditions are expected in the said areas.

Manalo also shared that Tropical Depression Henry was last spotted 960 kilometers west of Northern Luzon as of 3 p.m.

It exited the PAR on Wednesday evening.

Friday forecast

Manalo said there is a slimmer chance of cloudy skies and rain showers in parts of Luzon on Friday.

Palawan will continue to experience cloudy skies on Friday but it will see generally fair weather by weekend.

There is also a low chance of rain showers in the Visayas and Mindanao, Pagasa added.
