Amid recent criticisms targeting her, Heart Evangelista shared a quote about her admiration for people who do not step on others and embody kindness ‘whether or not the cameras are rolling.’
The actress-fashion influencer re-shared via her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, Oct. 29, a post from author Vex King.
The quote read: ‘I’ve stopped being inspired by loud success. What moves me now are the people who rise without selling their soul or stepping on others. Those who achieve incredible things without constantly chasing relevance. The ones who live what they preach and treat people kindly, whether or not the cameras are rolling. Those who know their worth but are humble enough to know they aren’t above anyone else. That’s the kind of greatness I aspire to quiet, steady, and real.’
Evangelista did not include any caption in her post.
Evangelista earlier made headlines after TV host-actor Vice Ganda seemingly threw a shade at her by pointing out the alleged decaying state of and supposed lack of reading materials at an old school in Sorsogon, the bailiwick of the actress’ husband, Sen. Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero.
The fashion influencer’s personal assistant then came to her defense and said that unlike Vice Ganda, Evangelista has supposedly been helping other people without boasting about it.
The local government of Bulusan, where the school in question is located, also released a statement refuting Vice Ganda’s claims of the establishment’s state of disrepair. It further stressed that Evangelista has nothing to do with the issue.
Rare Paraiba ring
Prior to this, Evangelista had also been bombarded by netizens questioning her lifestyle amid allegations of being a ‘nepo-wife.’
Recently, a video of Evangelista receiving from Escudero a rare Paraíba tourmaline ring from Escudero made the rounds of social media. According to reports, the ring sourced from the northeastern region of Brazil where it got its name supposedly fetches a cool $1 million, or equivalent to over P58 million.
Sought for comment, the office of Escudero referred INQUIRER Entertainment to the seller of the jewelry, Kei Chan, who pegged an 8-carat Paraíba ring at just over P1 million. We also reached out to Chan through her online platform, but she has yet to give her reply.
Evangelista previously hit back at her critics, asserting that she earned every luxury item she owns through hard work.
‘When you start coming for my professional integrity, I crumble into pieces because. I have been working since I was 13 years old. That 27 years of working non-stop,’ she said, responding to the criticisms. ‘Pinagtrabahuhan ko ‘yung meron ako, e.’
‘I have been having meetings with my attorney, and definitely I will not take it sitting down what some people have been saying about me, not even allegedly,’ she added.
The actress-host-fashion influencer derive her income from her appearances in fashion week events and endorsements of high-end luxury items, on top of her showbiz commitments and individual endeavors. She was one of the top influencers in various fashion week events in consecutive years, earning her top money.
Still, critics claimed that she was benefiting from her husband’s connections, among them, Atty. Jesus Falcis, who said the jewelry could not just be priced at a mere P1 million judging by its size, pegging the ring to be about 5 to 6 carats, which would further increase its market value.
Falcis also contrasted the purchase of the ring with Escudero’s declared P18-million net worth in his statement of assets, liabilities and net worth.
Escudero has filed a disbarment case against Falcis last September over ‘hateful’ posts on social media.
