The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) is ‘carefully reviewing’ the statement of resigned Ako Bicol Rep. Elizaldy Co Friday, which implicated President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in the infrastructure projects corruption scandal.
ICI Executive Director Brian Keith Hosaka said this in a message to reporters when asked to comment on Co’s allegation that Marcos ordered the insertion of at least P100 billion in projects in the 2025 General Appropriations Act.
On September 22, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Marcos is open to submitting himself to the ICI for investigation.
Castro’s statement came following a report by the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ), stating that Marcos allegedly received P20 million from tycoon Rodulfo Hilot Jr., owner of Zamboanga del Sur-based Rudhil Construction and Enterprises Inc., during his 2022 election campaign.
Marcos initiated the creation of the ICI in September in response to the public’s clamor amid the flood control anomalies scandal.
