Lingayen Airport closed until Nov. 2 for visitors of nearby cemetery

The Lingayen Airport in Pangasinan is closed until Sunday afternoon, November 2, to make way for visitors going to a nearby cemetery, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said.

‘The airport is located adjacent to the Lingayen Public Cemetery and has long served as a shortcut for cemetery visitors heading to the graves of their loved ones,’ CAAP explained in an advisory on Saturday morning.

‘With thousands expected to flock to the area, airport operations during Undas pose safety and security concerns for both the public and flight operations,’ it added.

The temporary closure came through a notice to airmen (NOTAM) in effect from 7 a.m. on Friday, October 31. It will remain in effect until 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 2.

The NOTAM covers the Lingayen Airport’s flight operations, as well as the operations of the three flight schools there.
