There are halls of justice built by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) with ‘listed contractors,’ Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Marvic Leonen said Wednesday.
‘We are also surveying because there are budgets included in the halls of justice; some of them were built by DPWH, and as of yesterday (Tuesday), Justice in-charge [Samuel] Gaerlan is looking at several projects done by some contractors that are listed,’ Leonen said during the 3rd anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovation (SPJI).
Although Leonen declined to provide further details, he assured that the Supreme Court is conducting a thorough review of the findings.
‘Unfortunately, most of the projects for now have been built, and in order to make sure that we were not shortchanged, we are doing our own due diligence,’ he said.
When asked what kind of support the Supreme Court can provide to the authorities investigating the flood control projects, Leonen stated that they can offer an assurance of impartiality.
He added that there will be an application of all the learnings of the SPJI, which means upholding the ethical standards and integrity of every proceeding. /mcm/abc /gsg
