President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday conducted a walkthrough of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City to personally assess the venue’s readiness and preparations for the 49th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit and Related Summits in November.
The regional bloc’s gathering is scheduled to from November 10 to 12, with some related events set through November 15.
It underwent a six-month renovation in 2025 and reopened in September last year.
Among its notable new works are the repair of marble tiles in the lobby, repainting of the ceiling, laser cleaning of concrete walls, and restoration of pieces of furniture that date back to 1976.
The lawn was also revived to its original 1976 design, with 3,068 restored shining droplights that will welcome visitors in the lobby.
Moreover, new infinity waterfalls, modern lighting, and a 30-speaker audio system were also installed.
Aside from the PICC, the historic Coconut Palace has also been revitalized ahead of the Asean Summit and is set to reopen to the public in 2027
