A magnitude 3.2 earthquake was felt in Occidental Mindoro early Friday morning, Oct. 17, with its epicenter traced to Paluan town.
The tectonic tremor occurred at 5:28 a.m., 26 kilometers southwest of Paluan, at a shallow depth of 6 kilometers, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
Phivolcs said no aftershocks or damage are expected from the tremor.
On Thursday at 7:02 p.m., a magnitude 3.9 earthquake also struck Santa Cruz town in the province. The quake was felt at Intensity II in Santa Cruz and Mamburao towns and at Instrumental Intensity II in Puerto Galera town in Oriental Mindoro and in Mamburao.
Intensity measures the effect of an earthquake on people and property, while instrumental intensity is determined using an intensity scale.
The seismically active Lubang Fault lies between Mindoro Island and Batangas./mcm
