Manila North Cemetery draws over 1 million visitors on Undas

Visitors continued to flock to the Manila North Cemetery as the crowd estimate reached over a million on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Santa Cruz Police Station, 1,038,993 visitors trooped to the cemetery as of 4 p.m. The most number of visitors – 167,350 – was recorded from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Based on data, the one-million mark was reached earlier this year than last year.

According to PLt.Col. Rexson Layug, there was still no security threat monitored inside the cemetery. He then advised visitors to avoid bringing prohibited items. Otherwise, these will be confiscated upon entry Prohibited items are sharp and inflammable objects, alcoholic beverages, pet animals, and loud sound systems.

Layug shared that cigarettes were the most confiscated items. However, he said that the objects could still be retrieved upon exiting the cemetery.
