Manila North Cemetery logs over 1.3 million visitors on All Saints’ Day

The Manila North Cemetery recorded more than 1.3 million visitors on Sunday, All Saints’ Day.

Based on the cemetery’s crowd monitoring update, an estimated 1,326,800 people visited their departed loved ones before it closed for the day on Nov. 1.

This was despite the high heat and a sudden downpour around noon.

In an interview on Sunday, Manila North Cemetery Director Daniel Tan said the observance of Undas had been ‘generally peaceful,’ with no untoward incidents reported.

The police deployed in the area echoed the same assessment.

However, some children were temporarily separated from their parents amid the large crowds but were eventually reunited with their families through the cemetery’s paging system.

Authorities also implemented a child-tagging system in designated areas to help prevent children from getting lost while visiting the cemetery.

On Monday, Nov. 2, the cemetery is open from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the observance of All Souls’ Day.
