A man reported missing in Concepcion town in Romblon was found alive on Wednesday, July 29, after an eight-day search and rescue operation involving police, emergency responders, local government units, and volunteers, authorities said.
The Romblon Police Provincial Office (RPPO) said Ivan Clem Atillano was found beneath a bridge in Sitio Hulo (Gaylang), Barangay Calabasahan.
Atillano was discovered by a resident, Jayson Fontanoza, who checked underneath the bridge. He was safely reunited with his family.
Police said Atillano was carrying only a Bible when he was found. His bag, which he had reportedly been carrying before his disappearance, was no longer in his possession.
Authorities said they are continuing to coordinate with concerned agencies to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police said the Concepcion Municipal Police Station had immediately joined search efforts after Atillano was reported missing.
The operation involved the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection, local government personnel, barangay officials from San Pedro and Calabasahan, volunteers, and concerned residents.
