The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will ‘invite’ Vice President Sara Duterte, former House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco, and others implicated in dismissed police officer Rodulfo Gracioso Jr.’s ‘cash delivery’ allegation.
NBI Director Melvin Matibag said this on Monday, shortly after Gracioso appeared before the bureau for questioning over his affidavit alleging that he delivered large sums of cash in suitcases to Duterte, former President Rodrigo Duterte, and Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte.
‘What we will do is to invite the vice president-invite, not subpoena-for her to share or say anything in relation to what Gracioso presented,’ Matibag said.
‘And the individuals mentioned there, we are also thinking of inviting them,’ he added.
The NBI director said Gracioso initially underwent a lie-detector test regarding his identity and his relationship with the individuals he mentioned, and the result turned out to be 99 percent accurate.
Matibag said Gracioso is willing to undergo another ‘polygraph test’ to prove that his affidavit is true.
He also said the NBI will authenticate the photos and videos submitted by Gracioso as supposed evidence against the Dutertes.
In an earlier interview after appearing before the bureau, Gracioso dared Vice President Duterte and Velasco also to undergo a lie-detector test ‘so we can see who is telling us the truth and who is not.’
The vice president earlier released a statement denying Gracioso’s allegations and emphasizing that she does not know him.
‘My lawyers are awaiting an official copy of the Gracioso affidavit from the NBI so they can begin working on the cases to be filed against him. Once we are done dismantling the lies contained in his testimony, it will end up in the trash bin-just like the one from Ramil Madriaga,’ she said.
