Necrological services for former Senate President and Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Juan Ponce Enrile will be held on Nov. 19, with a morning ceremony at the Senate in Pasay City and an afternoon service at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.
Cagayan Economic Zone Authority Administrator and CEO Katrina Ponce Enrile shared the schedule in a brief interview with reporters at her father’s wake in Makati.
Enrile’s casket will remain at the Armed Forces of the Philippines headquarters overnight. He served as defense chief starting February 9, 1970, and played a key role in implementing martial law during the rule of former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
He later withdrew his support and became one of the central figures in the 1986 Edsa People Power Revolution, which ultimately forced the Marcoses into exile.
According to Katrina, the casket will return to 2307 Morado Street, Dasmariñas Village, Makati City, on Nov. 20, though public viewing will resume only on Nov. 21.
He will then be transferred to Libingan ng mga Bayani on Nov. 22 for his burial.
Enrile passed away at 101 on Nov. 13 after being hospitalized for pneumonia.
