Damage to agriculture, fisheries, and infrastructure caused by Typhoon Tino in Negros Occidental has reached P382.3 million, with officials expecting the figure to rise as additional reports come in.
According to the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA), agricultural losses have totaled P28.5 million, affecting 1,229 farmers across 99 barangays in 13 local government units (LGUs).
Losses to rice were placed at P24.8 million, corn at P387,682, and high-value crops at P3.2 million, the OPA reported on Friday, November 7.
Meanwhile, damage to fisheries in two LGUs was estimated at P6.47 million.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) reported that infrastructure damage amounted to P347.3 million, affecting Sipalay City, Isabela, Don Salvador Benedicto, Bago, Binalbagan, and La Castellana.
The PDRRMO also reported that the typhoon destroyed 1,943 houses and damaged 11,336 in 11 LGUs across the province
