The Pasig City Regional Trial Court has denied the request for hospital arrest of televangelist Apollo Quiboloy.
‘The motion for hospital arrest filed by accused Apollo Quiboloy is hereby denied for lack of merit,’ the court said in an order made public Thursday.
In his request, Quiboloy, through his lawyer, had asked the court to place him under hospital arrest either at the Philippine Heart Center or the Medical City, citing ailments including persistent shortness of breath, accompanied by intermittent fever, muscle pain, and cough while in detention at the Pasig City Jail.
His request also mentioned that he also suffers from hypertension, diabetes mellitus type 2, chronic kidney disease, coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation, dyslipidemia, pulmonary tuberculosis, and recurrent bouts of pneumonia. Considering his health condition as well as his advanced age of 75, he was already hospitalized once last year and twice this year.

The court, in denying his request, leaned heavily on the Sept. 30, 2025 progress report submitted by Pasig City Jail Superintendent Lloyd F. Gonzaga containing a clinical abstract of Quiboloy’s attending physician at the Pasig City General Hospital, as well as his medical and diagnostic examinations at the Heart Center.
Based on the clinical abstract, Quiboloy’s vital signs have improved, and he no longer complains of his health as of Sept. 24.
The court also pointed out that Quiboloy was already cleared for discharge by the pulmonary, cardiology, and nephrology services on Sept. 25 and 26, respectively.
‘The records clearly establish that his medical needs are being adequately and consistently attended to while in the custody of the Pasig City Jail, and that he continues to receive appropriate, timely, and sufficient medical care at the Pasig City General Hospital, under the supervision of competent medical professionals,’ the court said.
Quiboloy and four other Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) associates are all facing qualified human trafficking charges before the court. /mr/abc
