Ramil to make landfall in Catanduanes; Signal No. 2 up in 4 Luzon areas

Tropical Storm Ramil (international name: Fengshen) may make landfall in Catanduanes on Saturday afternoon or evening, while Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 is raised over four areas in Luzon, the state weather bureau said.

In its 8 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported that Ramil had slowed while moving west-northwest over the waters off East Sorsogon.

The storm was located about 260 kilometers east of Juban, Sorsogon, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts up to 80 kph. It was advancing west-northwest at 15 kph.

Pagasa said Ramil is forecast to move generally west-northward toward Central Luzon.

‘On the forecast track, the center of Ramil may make landfall or pass close to Catanduanes this afternoon or evening,’ it added.

The agency noted that Ramil will continue west-northwestward, passing near Vinzons, Camarines Norte, and the Polillo Islands on Sunday morning.
