Suspected Dawlah Islamiyah bombmaker nabbed in Sultan Kudarat

The Special Action Force (SAF) arrested an alleged Dawlah Islamiyah bombmaker in Sultan Kudarat on Tuesday night, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.

According to a police report sent to reporters on Wednesday, personnel from the 83rd and 85th Special Action Companies of the Rapid Deployment Battalion and the Police Regional Office – Soccsksargen the allarrested the alleged bombmaker in Barangay Ligao, Palimbang town.

The suspect was arrested through warrants for multiple attempted murder, destructive arson, and violation of Republic Act No. 11479 or the Anti-Terrorism Act issued Oct. 4, 2021, issued by Hon. Annabelle Piang of the Regional Trial Court Branch 13 in Cotabato City.

‘The operation resulted in the arrest of the subject and seizure of one improvised explosive device,’ the police report said.

Both the arrested suspect and the confiscated improvised explosive device were taken into custody at the Palimbang Municipal Police Station.

‘The PNP is also further strengthening cooperation with the Armed Forces of the Philippines and other law enforcement agencies in the campaign against high-value targets from big threat groups, especially in Mindanao,’ Philippine National Police acting chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said in a statement also on Wednesday.
